Outgoing White House chief of staff John Kelly said President Donald Trump was simply not up to the job. George Conway, husband of presidential adviser Kellyanne Conway, ready to lash out at Trump, took popcorn to social media.
Journalist Maggie Haberman posted a link to her story on Twitter, writing: “Mr. Kelly ‘often tells people that Mr. Trump is incompetent for the role of president,’ according to two former administration officials.”
Conway has a fairly long and rich history of bashing the president on Twitter. Who can forget, for example, that he hit back at Trump after the president seemed to praise political strategist Roger Stone for not whining about him?
“Good to know that some people still have the guts!” Trump tweeted.
Conway, an attorney, responded briefly and pointedly, writing only: “Filed under ’18 U.S.C. §§ 1503, 1512′.” That’s the U.S. Code statute that defines witness tampering and obstruction of justice.
Then another time, federal prosecutors said Trump directed his former lawyer Michael Cohen to pay two women hush money to protect Trump’s presidential bid.
“Completely clearing the President of suspicion. Thank you!” Trump tweeted later in the day.
“Except for the small part where the U.S. Attorney’s Office said you directed and coordinated Cohen to commit two felonies,” Conway responded. “Other than that, totally innocent.”
